Definitions - What is Burnout?
Burnout has been building as a buzzword for a while now but it really hit the national psyche during the initial tumultuous stages of the pandemic.
The World Health Organization defines burn-out as “a syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed.” They then go on to break it down as being characterized by three key factors - feelings of exhaustion, a cynicism in regard to their job and an overall reduction in output.
Burnout a very real thing. It can lead to physical and mental symptoms such as insomnia, headaches, and depression, which can make it difficult for you to get through your day-to-day tasks.
3 Signs of Burnout
* You feel like you're going through the motions at work without really caring about what you do or how well you do it
* You don't want to go into work each morning because it's just another day full of monotony
* You physically feel sluggish even though you are theoretically getting enough sleep.
